Registering
Who can register?
Registration is open to medical practitioners who hold a current AHPRA registration. You will need your AHPRA registration number to complete the form.
If you work in the pharmaceutical or medical industry and need access for professional reasons, registration is handled by our team. Please contact us from your professional email with your full name, role and reason for access and we will take it from there.
Why do you ask for my AHPRA number?
It’s how we confirm you are a registered practitioner. A member of our team checks the number you provide against the public AHPRA register before your access opens. Your AHPRA number also appears on any CPD certificate we issue to you, so it needs to be correct.
What happens after I press “Create my account”?
- We create your account and email you a confirmation link.
- You open the link and press the button on the page. That confirms your address and signs you in.
- Your registration goes into our verification queue, where a member of our team checks your AHPRA number against the registry.
- Once approved, we email you and your access to all Med Ed Republic sites opens.
Confirming your email
I haven’t received the confirmation email.
Check your junk or spam folder first. The email comes from Med Ed Republic (info@mededrepublic.com.au) and asks you to confirm your address.
If it’s not there, go back to the registration form and register again with the same email address. That does not create a second account. It refreshes your existing one and sends a fresh link.
If you use a practice or hospital email address, your organisation’s mail filtering may be holding the message. Using a personal email is an alternative and ensures you will retain access to your account should you move practices/hospitals
I opened the link but nothing seemed to happen.
Opening the link shows a page with a button. You need to press the button. This is deliberate: some email systems open every link in a message automatically to scan it, and we do not want your account activated by a mail scanner rather than yourself.
I tried to sign in and it says I need to confirm my email first.
Your account exists but the confirmation link has not been used yet. Use the link from the email, or register again with the same address to get a new one. Password reset is not available until the address is confirmed, for the same reason.
The verification queue
Why is there a wait after I register?
Once you have confirmed your email address, your registration sits in a queue that our team works through, and a staff member compares the details you gave us against the public AHPRA register before approving you.
We do it this way because this check is a compliance requirement to ensure members of the public cannot access sensitive information. See Why access is gated.
How long does approval take?
The queue is handled by our team during business hours, so registrations made on a weekend or public holiday will be looked at on the next working day. You do not need to do anything while you wait, and there is no need to register again.
How will I know when I’m approved?
We email you. The message has the subject “Your Med Ed Republic registration is approved” and includes a sign-in link. From then on everything gated is open to you on every Med Ed Republic site.
You can also sign in at any time and check your account page. While your registration is pending it says “Your registration is with our team. We will email you when it has been approved.”
Is the check done once, or for every site?
Once. Med Ed Republic is a network of sites, one per education program, and new ones are added regularly. Approval is recorded against you as a person, not against the site you registered on, so it carries to every site in the network, including ones that do not exist yet.
My registration was declined. What now?
If we could not match your details to a current AHPRA registration, your account page shows “Something went wrong with your approval”
In most cases we will reach out to you to rectify the situation before we decline anything. Our team will however decline applications that are suspicious or potential spam. If you feel we have made a mistake, please get in touch. The registration form will not accept the same email address again, so contacting us is the only way to resolve this.
Why access is gated
Why can’t I just read everything without registering?
Under Australian therapeutic goods law, material that promotes a prescription medicine may only be viewed by health professionals. Our content by necessity discusses prescription medicines and sits alongside sponsor content, so we must ensure that everyone reading it is a registered practitioner.
The content restriction exists so that we can meet our obligations under this law.
Newsletter links
Can I forward a newsletter to a colleague?
No. The links in our newsletters are unique to you and would allow the recipient to access content not intended for public consumption. Even if your colleague is a health professional, they must register themselves to access our sites. Your account may be suspended if we detect too many uses of your unique links.
CPD certificates
How do I claim a certificate?
Sign in with an approved account, complete the activity, and press “Get my certificate” in the box on the activity page. The box shows the details the certificate will carry, your name, AHPRA number and address, before you claim. There is nothing to type.
What’s on the certificate?
- Your name and AHPRA registration number
- The activity title and activity code
- The CPD hours the activity is worth
- The date you completed it
- A unique certificate number
- The provider’s name
The certificate is shown on screen, emailed to the address on your account with a PDF attached, and available to download from your account page whenever you need it.
Is this accredited CPD?
Med Ed Republic is not currently an accredited CPD provider. Our activities are designed for self-directed CPD: you record the activity against your own CPD requirements with your college or CPD home, using the certificate as your evidence of completion. Check your college’s rules for what it accepts as self-recorded educational activity.
I completed an activity before I was approved. Where’s my certificate?
It is being held. If you registered from the activity page, or claimed while your registration was pending, the completion has been recorded and your account page lists it as “Completed, certificate awaiting approval”. The certificate is released and emailed to you automatically when our team approves your registration. You will not need to re-do the activity.
The activity page says it’s no longer available for CPD.
Some activities may be open for a set period. After it closes you can still read the material, but no new certificates will be issued for it. Certificates already issued are unaffected and remain on your account page.
My details on the certificate are wrong.
The certificate uses the name, AHPRA number and address on your account. Update them on your account page before you claim. If a certificate has already been issued with incorrect details, contact us.
Where can I find certificates I’ve already received?
On your account page. It lists every activity you have completed on any Med Ed Republic site, with a link back to the material while the activity is still open and a “Download certificate” link once the certificate has been issued.
Your account
Do I need to sign in separately on each Med Ed Republic site?
No. One sign-in covers every site in the network. Register or sign in on any of them and you are signed in on all of them.
How do I change my details?
Sign in and open your account page. You can change your name, profession, specialty, organisation, state, postcode, practice type, years in practice, address and telephone, and your newsletter and education-email opt-ins.
Your email address and AHPRA number are fixed once verified, because they are what your approval was based on. Contact us if either needs to change.
How do I close my account?
Contact us and we will take care of it. Bear in mind that certificates are linked to your account, so download any you want to keep first.
Something’s not working
“That email address is already registered.”
You have an account with us already. Sign in, or use the password reset link on the sign-in page.
“This email address cannot be registered.”
A previous registration with this address was declined. Contact us rather than trying another address, and we will sort it out with you.
“Too many registrations from this connection just now.”
We limit how many registrations can come from one internet connection in a short period, which stops automated abuse of the form. Practices and hospitals often share one connection, so this can trigger if several colleagues register at once.
“That confirmation link has already been used or has expired.”
Links work once and last seven days. If you have already confirmed, just sign in. Otherwise register again with the same address for a fresh link.
I can see an article but the CPD box says I need to sign in, even though I’m approved.
Your sign-in may have expired. Sign in again on any Med Ed Republic site. If the box still does not recognise you, contact us from the email address you registered under.
I have another question or these answers aren’t enough
Contact us. Include the email address you registered with and, if the question is about a certificate, the activity name. Please do not include your password.
